FAQ

What should I do to prepare for an new installation?

Making sure the firebox is clean and ready for new equipment is best practice.  It is best that a chimney have a proper rain cap to prevent the gas equipment from getting wet and/or water damaged.  We recommend the fireplace be swept before new product is installed, and inspected for intended use.

It is regularly specified to paint a firebox black before installation of new equipment; this works especially well with anything polished in finish.

What are the gas specifications for new equipment?

The BTU specification for standard items is shown here: (chart coming soon)

The BTU specification for custom/bespoke items is available upon request.

All Natural Gas systems have a pressure specification of 7 inches water column for natural gas.  And, 11 - 13 inches water column for LPG (liquid propane gas).

How are items shipped?

Smaller fireplace inserts and other products able to be packaged at under 50 lbs. weight are sent via FedEx or UPS

Larger fireplace inserts exceed 70 lbs. by weight when packaged individually, so these shipments must ship freight.  Freight packaging is a palletized-box, which comes on a truck requiring liftgate at delivery.  This service is available for the entirety of the US mainland, with special charges for inner cities such as NYC, DC, San Francisco, Martha's Vineyard, etc.

How often should I service my fireplace?

Batteries should be replaced regularly, at least once a year.  And, while the physical equipment is durable and meant to last several decades.  It is recommended by NFPA standard to have gas equipment serviced annually.
