Homefires has been importing the Curved Glass Fire Screen for over 20 years. It is such a fresh item, it instantly dresses up any fireplace without taking away anything. Made of 1/4" thick tempered glass with an arris flat polished edge, the screens are safe and much more durable than they appear.

The handle hole is 4" Wide x 1.5" Tall & The Vent Hole at the bottom is 5" Wide x 1" Tall - These dimensions do not change regardless of screen size.

To give you some education, when tempering glass, the glass is super-heated; then they blast the glass with liquid nitrogen to super-cool it. The rapid cooling of the exterior of the glass (vs. the interior) causes it to have an extremely high surface tension. To break the glass, you have to first break the surface tension, and that is not an easy thing to do. The main front and back of the piece are very sturdy, we have literally hit them with a ball-pen hammer and it just bounces right off! The edges are where you have to exercise some caution, as they have a low surface area. So, basically you have to be careful when picking up and putting down the screen. Ideally you want the screen on a smooth material like marble, granite, level slate or a cast stone material that is sanded. Basically, the only way to break the screen is to break the surface area, and it takes something sharp to do that.
